My Summer Wrap Up

I’m pretty bad at uploading I’ve decided. So I’ll just have one big photo wrap up of my very tame summer. I usually have insane amounts of fun filled adventures during the summer months but this was the first time I ever had summer school. Verdict: WORST DECISION EVER.

Luckily enough I was able to squeeze in a little bit time for a smile here and there. Now that it’s nearing the end of August, the wrap up begins now.

Summer kicked off with a bang— visiting Jeff “The Asian Situation” Aragones in DC back in June. We only spent about 24 hours there but that doesn’t do justice to how much action we packed into those hours. Oh alcohol…

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Mer’s fam had a bbq which was awesome because there was meat galore which i love! MEAT. lol Her mom made me dance in front of everyone which is prob one of the most embarrassing moments of my life hands down. All in good fun though.

.

.

.

.

Right after the bbq we took a spontaneous trip up to Boston. Haven’t been in such a long time. Had a great time though even though it was less than 24 hours. Got a chance to see my alma mater and finally buy a BU tee shirt! I ate Sicilia’s pizza for the first time. How I didn’t eat that for the four years that I lived there…let alone the one year when i actually lived across the street is ridiculous. We hung out with Neha for some drinking a little later too which was also a good time.

.

.

.

The next day had us celebrating the 4th of July! I haven’t seen the fireworks in the city in many many years. Mer has never seen them so I decided to take her with me and my mom to check them out over the Hudson. They were pretty. lol. nuff said. My favorite part was the mass exodus when it was over.

.

.

.

In July I couldn’t believe I was going to Bernadette’s wedding. Out of all of my friends, she would have been the last person I expected to tie the knot first. But I guess you can’t fight love right? They seem very happy and congrats to them! The wedding was fun and even better because I got to see a bunch of my friends from college. Good times were had.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Fast forward to the end of July and Esp Elio’s going away bbq. Peace out homie…enjoy the west coast. I still can’t believe his sole reason for leaving was for the hotter chicks that live in Cali. jk but not really.

.

.

.

One of my favorite moments in the summer was on a random sunday afternoon with Mer where we grabbed brunch and walked around the west village. The best part was watching Mer crump by the Crumpler sign store. Priceless.

.

.

August found me saying congrats to Corey & Ashley Burke! What a beautiful wedding in CT. Absolutely loved the gelato maker station! Such a great idea!

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

August also saw my little cousin, Aishah from Montreal visiting us. When people say show me New York, I usually don’t know what to show them. It’s a disease of being a native New Yorker. So I took her to Shake Shack because that is the essence of New York in the summer. Exaggeration? No. She loved it. Who wouldn’t?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Summer finally winded down with a night out at Frying Pan over the Hudson. Very chill but good times non the less. Peace out Summer ‘11!

Chocolate Wasted

Wanna get chocolate wasted??? Then you gotta head over to the Chocolate Bar over in Greenwich Village. Looks like it might be awesomeness for your mouth.

.

I always hate on Vespas and mopeds because honestly, they’re kinda lame. But for some reason lately, I feel like getting one so I don’t have to walk everywhere in this summer heat. I can look fly with a nice red one like this that I spotted.

Summer is here…

Memorial day weekend was upon us and what better way to kick off the unofficial start to summer than a visit from Jeff Aragones. What a great weekend it turned out to be as well. The weather was good. People came out. And lots of fun was had. It started at Beer Parc a new wanna be Beer Garden. It’s more like a young professional beer space. Interesting concept but not a fan of the long lines for the beers. Then we headed to Rareview, a rooftop bar in Midtown which was pretty chill.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Now that we’ve been properly buzzed up, it’s on to get some food which we did at Kyo-chon and get ready for the night. More rooftop bars were on our agenda as we were set to hit up 230 Fifth. We got a little sloppy needless to say.

.

.

.

Shenanigans

.

.

We owned the night for sure

.

Saturday night we were back at it again. A little more low key, well atleast that’s what we thought. It inadvertently ended up being hipster night. Oh man…

.

.

.

.

Man Love.

Fly Kid From BROOKLYN. That’s me!

.

.

Sunday was a recoup day. But Memorial Day Monday was a perfect day to head down to the shore. The Jersey Shore that is. No Seaside for us thank goodness but Point Pleasant still had its fair share of guidos and guidettes. Loved every moment of it!

Tired from jumping.

Surf taco is a must have at the shore!

It was a great weekend and it’s unfortunate that all weekends aren’t like that.

All Grow’d Up

There are a couple of things in life that make me feel old, my thinning hair line, running into people who have never heard of TGIF, and my little sister graduating from college. As she leaves Hofstra University and begin the adult life I try my best to let her know that the real world sucks. jk.

Quick Trip to the MET

I had to help Faline with a photo project for her class so we decided to use the MET as our background. What a nice museum it is. I really plan on exploring the entire thing one day but today was not that day. I only snapped a few of the Egyptian exhibit because I thought the architecture was pretty cool.

.

Replicas in a museum are interesting but sort of a let down. Sure it’s cool to look at but… it’s not real!

.

This was pretty cool. I liked the art and symbols on the stone itself. How did these people create this stuff centuries ago? Seriously. I think we’ve fell off. We can’t even build the freedom towers at ground zero after almost 10 years. Architects need to get their mind right and step their game up to the Egyptians.

.

.

Aww look at these sisters being happy. Sisterly love is what I call it.

.

Faline was staring into space and snapped this pretty quickly and I got the effect that I wanted. The pensive emo portrait look. Yes. Success!

Trees, Flowers, Plants and Japanese Things All Grow in Brooklyn

I haven’t been to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden since I was like 7 or 8 years old. Therefore, Sakura Matsuri seemed like a good day to make my return for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

.

.

.

It was a nice day and to visit although we did have to battle some clouds. Not so good for photo taking but I did manage to snap off a couple of decent ones. The only thing that was really annoying was that it was insanely packed and everyone and their mother had an SLR. It made my puny S90 feel like crap.

.

.

.

We ended up exploring the rest of the gardens too and found some cool stuff.

Like this crazy wooden hive thing.

.

.

Welcome to the Jungle! Tropical Rainforest Habitat. I walked in and I was already sweating. Pretty cool though. Makes me wanna go to Hawaii or something.

.

Welcome to the…desert? Yeah, it doesn’t have the same ring does it. Too bad Guns n Roses didn’t make a song about the desert. Well the cacti were pretty cool to see and touch. I didn’t know they had so many different kinds.

.

.

We found some time to play because we are children.

.

Mer likes to play hide and seek in trees.

.

Thank you Brooklyn Botanical. I’ll be back soon.

Spontaneous roadtrip? Yes please.

Instead of being lame and going to Boston for spring break, Mer and I decided to drive south to Myrtle Beach. After driving through a tornado and hords of traffic we finally made it. Lots of fun was had! Lots. What a great beach town!

.

.

Traffic sucked. Total stand still in North Carolina. Damn you mother nature!

.

But once we got there, it was non-stop sun which equals fun. Kayaking, relaxing, beaching, tanning, parasailing, eating and p-p-partying were jampacked into our few days at Myrtle Beach.

Me chillin at the Marketplace Commons on some trendy rocking chairs. That’s how they get down in the south.

.

Kayaking was fun. Even when we got lost on the lake and tried paddling against the wind and current. Had to get rescued. Thanks to the guy on the boat who watched us struggle for 20 minutes before finally helping us. Only us…

.

The biggest catch of the afternoon by far.

.

We built sandcastles. All on our own.

.

.

.

Attack of the giant Jellyfish!

Awesomeness vs Lameness

Needless to say we definitely had fun in the sun!

Wherever we went the waiters loved us. One even went as far as to give us free dessert just for being so awesome. It was mad good- even more so since it was free.

This was definitely the vacation that i needed- far far away from school, work, and my internship. Ahhh i’ll miss you Myrtle Beach.

Cafeteria NYC

This past weekend I finally decided to check out Cafeteria to see what all the hype was about. Apparently this a celeb sighting spot but that’s not what I cared about. I wanted their Mac n Cheese that everyone including my sister constantly rave about. We went on a late Friday afternoon so there was no wait. The ambience was pretty chill in a trendy upscale way.

.

.

I got a plain lemonde and it came in a jar son! I love lemonde in a jar.

.

On to the Mac n Cheese. We got the Mac Attack which is a sample of all 3 because why not? It was pretty good I must say. mmmmm

.

And for the entree, how could we say no to the rare opportunity of having chicken n waffles? mmmmmmmm I must say it was pretty upscale for chicken and waffles but it still did the job.

.

Cafeteria get’s a passing grade in my book.

What A Night

I finally got a chance to check out my friends new apt. And even more importantly Jeff was in town from DC which meant it was time to wild. The apartment is pretty nice and ofcourse as soon as I get there I was greeted with alcohol and farts.Yes what more could I ask for?

We took a before picture

Then we raged at the bars in Murray Hill. I don’t know how that happened but it got blurry pretty fast. But nothing was more exciting than what happened after. We hit up the McDonald’s on the corner and watched Jeff order 5-20 piece nuggets, 5- Big Macs, and 3- Large Fries. $64 worth of McDonald’s for 5 people. Insanity.

The aftermath. lol
